Safety: refers to the condition of being protected from harm, danger, or risk.
Groundskeeping Safety Procedure
Your safety in the workplace is a top priority. Therefore, all safety rules must be strictly adhered to at all times. Please notify your supervisor immediately if unsafe conditions, accidents, or injuries happen.
Restricted Area
No unapproved personnel should be in the maintenance office. Only those working in the maintenance department are permitted. Approval for entry must be obtained from Ignition Leadership (International Directors, Chief of Staff, Campus Director, or Maintenance Officer).
Training
All machine and maintenance operations require proper training and supervision! You will be trained on all equipment before use.
Breaks
Avoid fatigue and heat stress by taking your scheduled breaks and drinking plenty of water. Never operate the equipment if you are tired, sick, or taking medication.
Caution
- Stay off all electrical or plumbing-related tools because they are not your field. If you need them to perform your duty, USE WITH CARE AND CAUTION! Failure to follow proper safety measures could result in your termination for your safety and the safety of others.
- Groundskeeping staff must always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, safety glasses, and sturdy footwear.
- Use equipment and tools according to manufacturer instructions and organizational safety guidelines and participate in regular safety training sessions as required by the organization.
Hazards
Floors should be clean and clear of materials throughout the day to avoid a tripping hazard. Please make sure that all electrical outlets are covered.
