This procedure aims to standardize daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance tasks, addressing routine upkeep and more comprehensive service requirements to keep the generators in optimal condition.
Scope
This procedure applies to all maintenance personnel responsible for maintaining generators within the ministry. It includes daily inspections, weekly cleaning, and monthly servicing tasks. The scope covers cleaning inner chambers, pre-start checks, general washing, and radiator maintenance, with adjustments based on seasonal conditions.
Daily Maintenance
Inner Chamber Cleaning
Objective: To prevent the accumulation of dirt and dust affecting generator performance.
Procedure
- Inspect and clean the inner chambers of the generator to remove any dirt or dust.
- Ensure that the area is free of debris and any accumulated particles.
Pre-Start Check Procedures
Objective: To verify the generator’s readiness for operation and prevent potential issues.
Procedure
- Perform a visual inspection of the generator’s external components.
- Check fuel levels, oil levels, and battery condition.
- Ensure that all gauges and indicators are functioning correctly.
- Verify that all connections and hoses are secure.
Weekly Maintenance
General Washing and Cleaning
Objective: To remove external dirt and grime, improving the generator’s efficiency and longevity.
Procedure

- Clean accessible internal components to ensure proper ventilation and operation.
- Inspect the generator for any signs of wear or damage during cleaning.
Monthly Maintenance (General Generator Service)
Radiator Washing
Objective: To maintain optimal cooling efficiency by removing dust and debris from the radiator.
Procedure
- Wash the radiator to remove accumulated dust and debris.
- Inspect the radiator for any signs of leakage or damage.
- Ensure the radiator is fully dry before reassembling and operating the generator.
Seasonal Adjustments
Dry Season: More frequent radiator cleaning may be required due to higher dust accumulation.
Rainy Season: Radiator cleaning may be less frequent, and maintenance intervals should be adjusted based on the level of dust and operational conditions.
