Purpose
This procedure provides clear, structured, and spiritually guided steps for planning and executing evangelistic activities that align with the mission of the ministry. It ensures that evangelism efforts are effective, respectful, and culturally appropriate, fostering positive engagement with target communities while adhering to ethical and legal standards.
Scope
This procedure applies to all evangelism coordinators, team leaders, and participants involved in organizing and conducting evangelistic activities on behalf of the ministry. It encompasses preparation and planning, research and strategy development, logistics coordination, team organization, execution of community evangelism, discipleship, and follow-up, etc.
How To Coordinate Evangelism Procedure
Spiritual Preparation
- Conduct prayer sessions and Bible study to seek God’s guidance for the outreach.
- Engage the team in fasting where appropriate to strengthen spiritual focus.
Research and Strategy Development
- Identify target communities, including urban areas, rural settlements, and IDP camps.
- Research the demographics, cultural practices, and religious dynamics of the area.
- Develop culturally appropriate strategies to share the gospel.
Logistics Planning
- Obtain necessary permissions from local authorities for public evangelistic activities.
- Arrange for transportation, outreach materials, and welfare for the team.
- Prepare Bibles, tracts, and other resources in local languages if possible.
Team Organization
- Appoint team leaders for specific tasks such as worship, preaching, and counseling.
- Conduct training sessions to equip the team with effective communication and cultural sensitivity skills.
General Community Evangelism
- Use respectful, non-coercive methods such as open-air preaching, house-to-house visits, and small group meetings.
- Incorporate community services like medical outreach, educational workshops, or food distribution to build goodwill.
- Create a safe and welcoming environment for sharing the gospel, being sensitive to their emotional and psychological state.
Discipleship and Follow-Up
- Establish partnerships with local churches for continuous discipleship of new converts.
- Assign follow-up teams to maintain contact with converts through calls, visits, or group meetings.
- Provide discipleship materials and encourage regular Bible study and prayer groups.
Ethical and Legal Compliance
- Ensure all activities adhere to Nigerian laws governing religious gatherings and public outreach.
- Respect cultural and religious differences, avoiding actions that could incite conflict or offense.
- Maintain the confidentiality and dignity of individuals during counseling and follow-up.
