Purpose
To ensure the safety of passengers, drivers, and other road users by regulating the use of mobile phones while operating ministry vehicles.

Scope
This policy applies to all drivers operating vehicles within the organization and governs using personal and professional mobile phones during work hours.

Phone Setting
Silent or Vibrate Mode

Drivers must set their mobile phones to silent or vibrate mode while transporting guests to minimize distractions and maintain a focus on safe driving.

Personal Calls
Prohibition During Operation

Personal calls are not allowed at any time while operating any motorized vehicle. This is to ensure full attention is given to the road and passengers.

Permitted Times
Personal calls may only be made or received during designated break times when the vehicle is safely parked.

Professional calls
Permitted Use

Professional calls are permitted while transporting guests, provided they are necessary. These include:
- Inquiring about directions.
- Confirming schedules or times.
- Communicating with a supervisor.

Hands-Free Requirement
All professional calls must be made using a hands-free device to keep both hands on the steering wheel. The hands-free device should be set up before the journey begins.

Texting and Messaging
Prohibition During Operation

Texting or messaging is strictly prohibited while operating any ministry vehicle. This includes sending texts, checking emails, or using other messaging applications.

Ensuring Safety and Comfort
Drivers are expected to maintain professionalism at all times to ensure the safety and comfort of passengers. Any necessary messaging should be done when the vehicle is safely parked.

Compliance and Accountability
Monitoring

The organization may monitor driver behavior, including phone usage, to ensure compliance with this policy.

Corrective Action
Violations of this policy may result in corrective action, including warnings, suspension, or termination of employment, depending on the severity of the infraction.
