Policy - Driver Rules & Regulations
Section: Human Resource Policies
Policy Owner: Ignition633 Ministries Nigeria Human Resources
Policy Name: Driver Rules & Regulations Policy
Origination Date: July 2024
Purpose
To ensure that all employees operating ministry vehicles do so safely, responsibly, and according to our standards. These rules are designed to encourage safe driving practices and present a positive image to the community. We aim to protect our drivers and the campus by following these regulations.
Scope
This policy covers all driving activities, including commutes, transportation of ministry clients or materials, and travel to ministry-related events. The rules outlined here guide employees in following safe and professional driving conduct, compliance with traffic laws, and upholding the ministry’s values and standards.
Definition
Rules: One of a set of explicit or understood regulations or principles governing conduct or procedure within a particular area of activity.
Regulations: A rule or directive made and maintained by an authority.
Driving Rules and Regulations
Timely
Arrive to work and from breaks on time. Contact your supervisor in advance if you are running late or can not come to work. Corrective actions will be taken if you are tardy or absent without notice.
No Idol Hands
Stay focused and on task during working hours. If you are without a task, show initiative and ask for direction from your supervisor.
Maintenance
Maintenance inspection forms should be completed weekly and submitted to your supervisor.
Theft Prevention
No materials from our facility are to be taken home. Inventory, CCTV, and security checks are in place to prevent theft upon entry and exit.
Remain In Your Vehicle During Trips
- Remain in/with the vehicle during travel and at the destination. This includes during short trips to the store and market.
- Ensure the AC remains on while running to keep the car cool for short trips. If passengers stay out for over 20 minutes, turn off the AC and turn it back on after every 20 minutes to maintain a comfortable temperature. For long trips, seek instructions on where drivers and security rest stations are located.
Theft Prevention
All ministry vehicles are equipped with a tracking device. The keys to all vehicles must be turned in at the end of each day and placed in a secured lock box.
On Duty
Do not "hang out" or rest in the vehicles while on duty. Vehicles should only be entered during maintenance, stocking items, cleaning, or transport times. If you are waiting for your next driving appointment, please wait in the designated area.
