Definition
Hygiene involves practices to maintain health, prevent disease, and ensure cleanliness, including handwashing, bathing, and proper food handling. It promotes sanitation, reduces pathogen exposure, and supports public health and safety for a sustainable environment.
Policy Statement
Personal Hygiene
All employees are expected to uphold high personal hygiene standards, including:
- Regular and thorough handwashing with soap and water.
- Proper grooming and cleanliness in attire.
- Use of appropriate deodorants and personal care products.
- Prompt addressing of any health conditions that could impact personal hygiene.
Workspace Hygiene
- Employees are responsible for keeping their workspaces clean and organized.
- Desks, equipment, and shared spaces should be wiped down regularly using provided cleaning supplies.
- Eating and drinking are restricted to designated areas to prevent contamination.
Restrooms and Common Areas
- Restrooms and common areas will be regularly cleaned and stocked with necessary supplies.
- Dispose of waste in designated bins, ensuring cleanliness and preventing odors.
Food Handling and Consumption
- Food brought into the workplace should be stored in appropriate containers and consumed in designated areas.
- Employees must practice proper hand hygiene before and after handling food.
Illness and Contagious Conditions
- Employees showing signs of illness, such as fever or respiratory symptoms, should not come to work.
- A medical certificate may be required to return to work after a contagious condition.
Cleaning and Disinfection
- Cleaning personnel will maintain a regular cleaning schedule for common areas, restrooms, and shared equipment.
