Procedure - Media Content Writing Rules
Section: Human Resource Procedures
Procedure Owner: Ignition633 Ministries Nigeria Human Resources
Procedure Name: Media Content Writing Rules
Origination Date: October 2024
Purpose
This procedure aims to guide the media employees at Ignition 633 Nigeria in creating effective and compliant social media posts across various platforms. It ensures consistency, clarity, and respect for the audience while adhering to platform-specific requirements and ethical considerations.
Scope
This procedure applies to all social media content posted by the Ministry's media team members. It covers character limits for each platform, guidelines for tone and style, the need for simplicity and intentionality in messaging, and best practices for engaging with the audience.
Write Like Humans
The days of writing cold robotic captions on social media are long gone. Captions can be written in 3rd person, but usually, 1st works best: “We would love you to join us for a webinar” instead of “Contentworks Agency invites you to join a webinar.”
Keep Captions Simple
Asking multiple questions or making too many points in one caption can be confusing and lead to low engagement. Focus on asking one question and keep your language clear and concise.
Be Intentional
The first thing you need to tick off your caption scoresheet is intent. What is your intention with the caption, and what results do you want to achieve?
Examples
- Are you trying to sell a product (like a chicken) or service? - Provide a link and product description if this is your outcome. Give as much information as possible, including bird size, age, breed, and delivery time.
- Would you like your audience to act specifically after reading your post? - You should explain the following steps if this is your desired outcome.
Example
- Click the link
- Partner with us
- Place an order before x date.
