Purpose
To ensure that staff maintain high standards of behavior, ethics, and competence in their interactions with children, parents, and colleagues. It fosters a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment for children by promoting responsible conduct, effective communication, and adherence to best practices. 

Scope
It includes setting standards for staff behavior, ethics, and conduct; ensuring proper communication with parents and colleagues; maintaining confidentiality and respecting privacy; adhering to educational and developmental best practices; fulfilling responsibilities with competence and integrity; upholding the dress code and appearance guidelines; and complying with regulatory and legal requirements.

Definition
Childcare: the supervision and care provided to children, typically from infancy to early childhood, by individuals other than their parents or guardians.
Professionalism: the conduct, behavior, and attitude expected of individuals in a professional setting. It involves adhering to ethical standards, demonstrating competence in one's role, maintaining integrity, and consistently displaying responsibility, respect, and reliability.

Professionalism

We recognize the critical role that childcare givers play in the well-being and development of children. As such, we uphold the highest standards of professionalism to ensure our children's safety, growth, and happiness. Our professionalism policy encompasses the following key principles:

Private Conversations
Caregivers should never discuss confidential information or share personal anecdotes or stories about children with anyone other than authorized staff or the child's parent or guardian.

Interpersonal Skills
Communicate effectively and respectfully with children, their families, colleagues, and your supervisor. Building positive relationships and maintaining open lines of communication are essential components of professionalism.

Respect for all individuals 
Treat children, parents, colleagues, and visitors with respect, courtesy, and kindness. Discrimination, harassment, or disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated.

Ethical Coduct
Conduct yourselves ethically, avoiding any form of discrimination, harassment, or unprofessional behavior. Upholding the organization's values and policies is essential.

Nurturing Environment
Create a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and respected. Encouraging positive interactions and conflict resolution among children is essential.

Health and Hygiene 
Maintain high personal hygiene standards, including regular handwashing and following health guidelines to prevent the spread of illnesses.

Record Keeping
Accurate and thorough record-keeping, including incident reports, medication logs, and developmental progress notes, is required to ensure the child's well-being and proper documentation.

Punctuality and Reliability
Arrive on time for scheduled shifts and fulfill your responsibilities reliably. Consistent attendance is vital for maintaining the children's routines and trust.
