Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to define the roles and responsibilities for the control and management of tipper vehicles at the Ignition 633 construction site in Nigeria, ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency
Scope
This policy applies to all employees, contractors, and stakeholders involved in the operation and management of tipper vehicles within the Ministry.
Policy Statement
Management
- Ensure all tipper operations comply with relevant laws and regulations.
- Provide the necessary training for operators and staff regarding safe practices and equipment handling. Create and update training materials related to tipper operation and safety protocols.
- Regularly review operations and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
- Ensure records of all maintenance and repairs conducted on tipper vehicles are maintained, also maintain records of trips.
Tipper Operators
- Operate tipper vehicles safely and according to established procedures.
- Conduct thorough vehicle inspections before use, reporting any issues immediately.
- Maintain accurate logs of trips, loads, and any incidents during operation.
- Ensure the tipper vehicles are regularly maintained and serviced according to manufacturer specifications.
- Report any mechanical issues to supervisors promptly to minimize downtime and ensure safety.
- Ensure loads are correctly secured and within weight limits before tipping.
Tipper Assistant (Tipper Boy)
- Must check the quality of materials to purchase, gravels must be of great quality, sharp sands must be sharp, and plastering sands must be of good grades.
- Before the tipper truck reverses, you must come down to direct the tipper to where it should go, you must also check for better routes in situations involving bad roads.
- Conducts proper assessment of the safety of loading and unloading before the tipper goes to unloading to avoid hanging.
- Maintain clear communication with tipper operators regarding site conditions and potential hazards.
