Purpose
The Non-Smoking and Substance Abuse Policy is designed to promote a safe, healthy, and productive work environment at Ignition 633 Nigeria's construction site by prohibiting smoking and the use of controlled substances in the workplace. This policy aims to protect employees, clients, and visitors from the harmful effects of smoking and substance abuse while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
Scope
This policy applies to all construction staff and personnel including full-time, part-time, temporary, and contract workers. The policy is in effect at all company premises, including offices, construction sites, vehicles, and any other locations where The Ministry's business is conducted, both on and off-site, where employees represent the organization. visitors and contractors engaged with the Ministry must also comply with this policy while on Ministry premises
Policy Statement
Smoking Areas
Smoking is prohibited in all indoor areas, including offices, break rooms, and restrooms. Employees must understand that they represent the ministry's image and the Lord in their conduct and attitudes both within and outside the Ministry.
Substance Prohibition
The use, possession, distribution, or sale of illegal drugs or controlled substances while on duty or ministry property is strictly prohibited.
Alcohol Consumption
Employees must not consume alcohol during work hours or arrive at work under the influence of alcohol, employees need to represent the Lord even outside the working environment.
Prescription Medication
Employees taking prescription medication that may impair their ability to perform their job safely must notify their supervisor.
Random Checks
Any detectable amount of illegal drugs, controlled substances, or alcohol in an employee's body system while performing ministry business or in a ministry facility is prohibited.
Reporting Substance Abuse
Employees are encouraged to report any suspected substance abuse by colleagues to their supervisor or HR.
Education
Regular training sessions will be provided to educate employees about the dangers of substance abuse and the benefits of a smoke-free environment.
Compliance
All employees are expected to comply with this policy. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action, including termination of employment.
