Scope
This policy applies to all laborers, supervisors, and site management. It covers all safety-related procedures, equipment usage, and workplace behaviors necessary for a safe construction environment at the ministry.
Risk management
Risk management means evaluating a specific task and establishing the level of safety and danger on the job. Identify all threats, risks, and hazards and lower their chances of occurrence by constant re-evaluation and being aware of the surrounding and changing work environment.
Safety Checklist
- Have Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Close-toe shoes, preferably boots
- Eye protection (safety glasses, googles or face shield)
- If needed, wear gloves, usually subjective
- Proper use of a ladder, fully extend the ladder outward and make sure the ladder is secure before climbing. Make sure the ladder is not sitting on debris. Always have three points of contact as you travel up and down the ladder. If needed, use a spotter to hold the ladder.
- When using an angle grinder, always put on safety glass. Always have the handle on the left or right, never the center. Always use a diamond blade when cutting masonry and use a metal blade when cutting metal. Unplug the angle grinder before touching or replacing the blade.
- When using a hammer drill, always use two hands. One hand on the handle, another on the foregrip
- When using a circler saw, always ensure the blade is tight before using it. Always confirm the saw is unplugged when putting a new blade on or tightening. Use both hands, one on the handle and the other on the grip.
