Policy Name: Driving Safety In Nigeria Policy
Origination Date: June 2024
As a ministry, it is important for us to raise law-abiding citizens and have employees who exemplify Christ-like character to the world by upholding safety conduct of their profession as stipulated by the Federal government of Nigeria (Romans 13:1). Safety policies and procedures for professional drivers in Nigeria typically involve several aspects to ensure safe road operations. These aspects may include:
Obey Traffic Rules and Regulations:
- Follow all traffic laws and regulations, including speed limits, road signs, and traffic signals.
Buckle Up:
- Always wear your seatbelt and ensure all passengers are buckled up.
Avoid Distractions:
- Do not use your phone or engage in distracting driving activities. Stay focused on the road.
No Drinking and Driving:
- The Ministry prohibits drinking or smoking while on duty, whether driving or not. Never drive under alcohol or drugs.
Maintain Following Distance:
- Keep a safe distance from the vehicle before you to allow for reaction time and braking distance.
Use Signals:
- Use your turn signals to indicate your intentions to other drivers.
Observe The Speed Limit:
- Adhere to posted speed limits, and adjust your speed according to road conditions.
Adapt To Weather Conditions:
- Drive cautiously in adverse weather conditions such as rain, fog, or poor visibility.
