Section: Human Resource Policies
Procedure Owner: Ignition633 Ministries Nigeria Human Resources
Procedure Name: Emergency Response Plan
Origination Date: July 2024

Definition:
Emergency:
An emergency is an unplanned event or incident that can cause death or significant injury to employees, students, visitors, residents, or the public, shut down operations, cause physical or environmental damage, or threaten the ministry’s public image.

Emergency Response Plan:
The Emergency Response Plan is not just a document but the cornerstone of our preparedness. It guides us in preparing for, mitigating, responding to, and recovering from an emergency. It provides a coordinated response and clear command line, ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees, students, visitors, and the public.

Role of the Gate Guard:
The role of gate guards in an emergency is often determined by the nature of the emergency. For example, an emergency response to an intruder depends on the severity of the situation. The gate guard can either do the following:
- Alert the strikers and radio the protocol immediately.
- Investigate the intrusion and secure the area.

Emergency Situations
General
- In an emergency, the protocol officer will initiate selected response plans and any related communication plans as required.
- Depending on the severity of the emergency, Gate Guards will be required to work with the Protocol Officer to guide everyone through the emergency, determine available options, initiate action, and coordinate communication issues with the Ignition633 leadership.
- The Protocol Officer will call upon the gate guards as necessary.
- The Protocol Officer will clearly announce the emergency and the next line of action to everyone as trained.
- The Chicken Coop entrance will be the emergency center depending on the “call to action.”
- Where police or fire officials are involved, they are responsible for taking jurisdiction over all activities. The Protocol Officer will manage the deployment of the Ministry’s resources.
