Purpose
This policy aims to establish clear guidelines for professional attire at the workplace, ensuring that all administrative staff maintain a professional appearance that reflects the ministry's standards. A consistent dress code fosters respect, professionalism, and a positive image for employees and the organization.
Scope
This policy applies to all ministry administrative staff. It covers daily dress code expectations, including permitted attire, footwear, and guidelines for casual dress on designated days.
Dress Code Guidelines
Professional Attire (Monday to Thursday)
- All admin staff are required to wear professional business attire throughout the workweek.
- Professional attire includes suits, blouses, collared shirts, professional traditional wear, slacks, skirts (at knee level), and dresses that reflect a professional environment.
- Shoes must be Half-shoes or Corporate shoes at all times. Slippers, easy wear, sneakers, slides are prohibited.
Business Casual Fridays
- On Fridays, employees may wear business casual or traditional attire. However, this does not permit lazy or overly casual dressing.
- Business casual includes dress shirts, collared shirts, dress pants, traditional wear, or neat non-ripped jeans.
- Shoes must be Half-shoes or Corporate shoes at all times. Slippers, easy wear, or sneakers.
Prohibited Attire
Indecent dressing, such as excessively revealing or tight clothing, is strictly prohibited. This includes but is not limited to:
- Clothing that exposes the midriff, cleavage, or undergarments.
- Skirts, dresses, or shorts that are too short or revealing.
- T-shirts with inappropriate or offensive graphics or slogans.
- Shoes: Slides are not to be worn
- Monday - Thursday: Jeans are not to be worn
Employees should ensure their appearance upholds the ministry's professional image.
Personal Hygiene
- Admin staff must maintain proper hygiene, including regular bathing, clean and well-groomed hair, and neatly trimmed fingernails.
- Clothes should be clean, stain-free, and pressed.
Cologne/Fragrances
Colognes and fragrances should be used in moderation to avoid overpowering scents, ensuring a comfortable environment for everyone. Excessively strong scents are discouraged to accommodate colleagues with sensitivities.
Enforcement
Failure to adhere to the dress code will result in corrective action, including verbal warnings, written warnings, or other corrective measures deemed appropriate by the department leaders. Repeated violations may lead to further consequences, up to and including termination.
