Staff Creche Daily Operating Procedure
Purpose:
The purpose of this procedure is to have a standard routine for the daily operation of the staff creche. It aims to ensure consistency in maintaining a secure, sanitary, and engaging environment for children, while making sure the creche runs smoothly. This procedure serves to guide staff in their responsibilities, minimize oversights, and uphold the quality of care.
Scope:
This procedure applies to all employees and volunteers assigned to open or close the creche, including childcare workers and supervisors. It covers all areas within the creche, including play areas, rest areas, bathrooms, and other spaces. The procedure is to be followed every day.
Responsibilities:
The designated opening and closing staff members are responsible for completing all tasks listed in this procedure.
Procedure:
Opening Procedure:
Creche Access:
- Unlock main entrance.
- Unlock all interior doors.
Environment Preparation:
- Turn on lights throughout the creche.
- Adjust thermostat/turn on AC or heating as needed.
- Check and restock supplies (diapers, wipes, tissues, etc.).
- Sanitize high-touch surfaces (doorknobs, light switches, toys).
- Prepare activity areas (set out toys, books, art supplies).
- Empty trash throughout the day as needed.
Administrative Tasks:
- Set up sign-in/sign-out sheet for the day.
- Review any special instructions or notes from previous day.
Closing Procedure:
Child Safety Check:
- Ensure all children have been picked up.
- Check all rooms, bathrooms, and play areas for children.
Cleaning and Sanitization:
- Clean and sanitize all toys and equipment used during the day.
- Wipe down all surfaces (tables, chairs, counters).
- Sweep and mop floors.
- Empty all trash bins and replace liners.
- Clean and sanitize bathrooms.
Creche Preparation for Next Day:
- Tidy up all areas (put away books, toys, supplies).
- Check and restock supplies for the next day.
Creche Closure:
- Turn off all lights.
- Adjust thermostat/turn off AC or heating.
- Lock all doors.
- Lock the main entrance.
Record Keeping:
Complete daily checklist to confirm all tasks have been performed.
