Dress Code Policy
“Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious." - 1 Peter 3:3-4
Purpose:
This dress code policy aims to ensure that all staff members present a professional, appropriate, and safe appearance while working with young children. It is designed to promote a positive image, maintain hygiene standards, and facilitate active engagement with children.
Scope:
This policy applies to all employees and volunteers, working or training at the creche during operating hours.
Policy:
Attire:
Staff members must wear comfortable and modest clothing that is appropriate for working with young children. Acceptable tops include collared shirts, blouses, or t-shirts with sleeves; tank tops and spaghetti straps are not permitted. Bottoms are to be knee-length or longer skirts, dresses, or pants; shorts and miniskirts are not allowed. All clothing cannot be too tight, revealing, or restrictive. Clothing with offensive text or images is strictly prohibited. Uniforms with the Love Shield are to be worn as instructed by leadership.
Footwear:
All staff must wear closed-toe, non-slip shoes. High heels or unstable footwear are not permitted for safety reasons.
Jewelry:
Jewelry is to be kept to a minimum for safety purposes. Acceptable items include small stud earrings or tiny hoops, simple necklaces worn inside clothing, and wedding bands or simple rings. Facial piercings (except small, discreet nose studs), smartwatches or fitness trackers with sharp edges, and bracelets or bangles are not allowed.
Hair and Nails:
Hair needs to be kept neat and tied back if long. Nails must be maintained short and clean to ensure proper hygiene when working with children.
Personal Hygiene:
Staff members are expected to maintain a high standard of personal hygiene. This includes showering or bathing regularly, using deodorant daily, brushing teeth and maintaining fresh breath, and keeping facial hair neat and trimmed. Wash hands frequently, especially before and after diaper changes, food preparation, and eating. To avoid potential allergic reactions, refrain from using perfumes, colognes, or strongly scented body products. Instead, use unscented or lightly scented deodorants and lotions.
