DRESS CODE POLICY

Policy Owner: Ignition633 Ministries Nigeria Human Resources
Policy Name: ICT Department Dress Code Policy
Origination Date: January 2025

Purpose

This policy establishes a flexible yet professional dress standard for staff within the ICT Department. Given the hybrid nature of work (remote and onsite), the goal is to ensure that all staff present themselves in a manner that reflects professionalism, credibility, and respect for the organisation, whether physically present or representing the organisation virtually.

Scope

This policy applies to all ICT Department staff working onsite, remotely, or in a hybrid capacity. It covers expectations for physical appearance during office hours, meetings (physical or virtual), and any official engagement representing the organisation.

General Dress Standard

  • Staff are expected to dress in a smart-casual to business-casual manner at all times.

  • Clothing must be clean, neat, and appropriate for a professional work environment.

  • Outfits should not be distracting, revealing, or overly casual.

  • Staff must be properly dressed during all official meetings, whether onsite or virtual.

Onsite Work Attire

  • Acceptable attire includes collared shirts, polos, blouses, neat trousers, chinos, skirts, and simple dresses.

  • Footwear should be clean and appropriate (e.g., loafers, flats, or covered shoes).

  • Not acceptable: slippers, bathroom slides, ripped jeans, offensive prints, or overly casual wear.

  • On days involving meetings, presentations, or cross-departmental interactions, staff are expected to dress more formally (business casual or better).

Remote Work Attire (Virtual Presence)

  • Staff must appear neat and properly dressed during virtual meetings.

  • Casual home wear such as singlets, pyjamas, or inappropriate tops is not allowed during official calls.

  • Staff should ensure their overall appearance and background reflect professionalism when on camera.

Flexibility Guidelines

  • ICT staff are allowed reasonable flexibility due to the nature of their work; however, this must not compromise professionalism.

  • On days without meetings or external interaction, relaxed dressing is permitted, provided it remains decent and presentable.

  • Supervisors may specify stricter dress expectations when necessary (e.g., events, trainings, or inspections).

Personal Grooming

  • Staff must maintain a clean and tidy appearance at all times.

  • Hair should be neat and well-kept.

  • Strong or distracting odours (including perfumes) should be avoided.

  • General hygiene must be maintained consistently.

Identification

  • All staff must wear their ID badges while onsite.

  • For virtual meetings, staff should properly identify themselves where required.

Enforcement

Supervisors are responsible for ensuring compliance with this policy.
Repeated disregard for the dress code, especially after reminders, may result in corrective action in line with organisational policies.

Review Clause

This policy will be reviewed annually and may be updated as required. Any changes will be communicated to all staff.

Contact Information

For any questions or further clarification, staff should contact the HR department at hr.nigeria@ignition633.org.

If you want, I can tighten this further (more strict corporate tone) or make it softer depending on how strongly you want to enforce compliance.
