Purpose
The procedure establishes a systematic approach for the routine maintenance of tipper trucks used in construction and logistics operations. The goal is to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient functioning of tipper vehicles, minimize downtime, and extend the lifespan of the equipment at Ignition 633 Nigeria. Regular maintenance reduces the risk of mechanical failures, enhances operational safety, and ensures compliance with safety and environmental regulations.


Scope
This procedure applies to all tipper trucks used in the Ministry’s operations. It covers daily, weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance and the responsibilities of operators, mechanics, and supervisors to ensure that vehicles meet all safety and performance standards. This procedure is in effect for all personnel involved in the operation and maintenance of tipper vehicles.

Maintenance Procedure
Daily

Perform a daily inspection before operating the tipper to identify any issues early.
-Check fluid levels: Inspect engine oil, coolant, brake fluid, hydraulic fluid levels, tipping oil, and water levels in the radiator
-Inspect tires: Look for signs of wear, correct air pressure, and any visible damage.
-Examine lights and indicators: Ensure that all headlights, brake lights, indicators, and warning lights are working.
-Check for leaks: Inspect the ground under the vehicle for any signs of fluid leaks.
-Test the horn and backup alarm: Ensure proper functioning to avoid site accidents.
-Lubrication: Apply grease or lubricants to the chassis, tipper body hinges, joints, and the lifting mechanism.

Weekly
-
Check the hydraulic system: Inspect the hoses, fittings, and cylinders for leaks or damage.
-Inspect brakes: Ensure the brake system is fully operational and adjust or replace brake pads if necessary.
-Battery inspection: Check the battery terminals for corrosion and ensure the battery is adequately charged.
-Examine the tipper body: Look for signs of rust, wear, or structural damage to the tipper bed.
-Inspect suspension and shock absorbers: Ensure the vehicle's suspension is functioning properly to handle the load.

Monthly
-Change engine oil and filters: Regularly replace the engine oil and oil filters according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
-Inspect and replace air and fuel filters: This ensures proper air-fuel mixture and efficient fuel consumption.
-Inspect the hydraulic pump and fluid: Change the hydraulic fluid if necessary and inspect the pump for any signs of failure.
-Check the exhaust system: Ensure there are no blockages or damages that may reduce engine efficiency
.-Inspect the electrical system: Check wiring, connectors, and fuses for wear or damage.
