The equipment maintenance procedure outlines the necessary steps for ensuring optimal performance and longevity of the construction equipment used by the foreman, including the Jet Truck, Generator, Head Pan, Shovel, Mold, and Pallets. The procedure details the frequency of inspections, and the steps taken to maintain the equipment’s safety, efficiency, and reliability on the job site.
Purpose
This procedure establishes the guidelines for the regular maintenance of construction equipment to ensure optimal performance, minimize downtime, extend the lifespan of equipment, and promote safety on the construction site at Ignition 633 Nigeria.
Scope
This procedure applies to all construction personnel operating, maintaining, and inspecting equipment at Ignition 633 Nigeria. It covers all types of construction equipment, including excavators, Tippers, cranes,Hi loaders,Ject Truck, Generators, mixers, and other heavy machinery used in construction projects.
1. Hi Jet Truck
Daily Checks
Inspect Exterior: Check for visible damage to the truck body and tires.
Fluid Levels: Check oil, coolant, brake fluid, and fuel levels. Refill or replace as needed.
Engine Start-Up: Check for unusual noises, vibrations, or warning lights during start-up.
Lighting: Ensure all lights (headlights, brake lights, and indicators) are operational.
Weekly Checks
Brakes and Suspension: Check the condition and effectiveness of the brakes and suspension system.
Hydraulic System: Inspect the hydraulic system for leaks or wear.
Filters: Inspect and clean air, fuel, and oil filters. Replace if needed.
Greasing: Lubricate all moving parts according to the manufacturer's recommendation.
2. Mold
The molding machine is serviced only when it develops fault because it is an electric vibrator and does not require engine oil. However, the mold requires much attention as follows;
Cleaning: Make sure molds are clean when removing them from the machine after finishing use. Remove concrete sediment inside the mold or on the male mold plates.
Lubrication: lubricate the mold eyes and male mold plates with a hand pump if any is required.
Storage: After the lubrication process you can take the mold to the storage area.
3. Generator
Daily Checks
Oil Levels: Check the engine oil level before use and refill as required.
Air Filter: Inspect the air filter for dust or debris. Clean or replace it if dirty.
Fuel Check: Ensure there is enough fuel in the tank for operations. Check for fuel leaks.
Inspection: General inspection to ensure everything is in place.
Monthly Checks
Complete Oil Change: Change the oil after 100 hours of usage or once a month, whichever comes first.
Spark Plug: Check the spark plug for wear and clean or replace as necessary.
4. Head Pan
Cleaning: After each use, wash the head pan with water to remove any concrete or material residue.
Damage Check: Inspect for cracks, dents, or any signs of wear.
Structural Integrity: Ensure that, the pan's handles and body remain intact and sturdy. Repair or replace if necessary.
5. Shovel
Cleaning: Clean the shovel after each use by removing dirt or debris.
Blade Inspection: Check for dullness, chips, or cracks in the blade. Sharpen if needed.
Handle Check: Ensure the handle is not loose, cracked, or broken.
6. Pallets
Inspection for Damage: Check for any broken boards, loose nails, or signs of wear and tear.
Cleanliness: Pallets are always watered to avoid bents and cracks on the blocks.
Storage: Ensure the pallets are stored in a dry and well-ventilated area.
Safety Alert
-Do not use tools that need repair or replacement. Broken tools can cause injury.
-Do not misuse tools; you risk injury to yourself and others and damage to the tools.
-You should wear heavy gloves when cleaning or removing rust from tools that can cut. Wear safety goggles when using a wire brush to remove rust
